    Marion Spinney Soule, 84, of North Palermo Road, Palermo, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Willows Nursing Care Center.
    Born in Portland on May 19, 1914, she was the daughter of James and Edith (Ingalls) Spinney. She attended Portland schools. She was married to Charles Henry Bachelor Soule on March 25, 1939.
    She worked as a telephone operator in the town of Palermo. She was also a cook at Palermo Consolidated School and worked as a telephone operator at the Togus Veterans Hospital until her retirement in 1974. Mrs. Soule enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her family and friends. Over the years, she belonged to many clubs and organizations in town.
    She will be sadly missed by her close friends, Gary Dyer (loved as a son) and wife Vicki of Palermo.
    Surviving are her sister, Leah Deegan, formerly of Bethel, who had lived with and cared for Marion for the past two years during her illness: her half-sister. Mary Jane Gaudreau and husban Harold of Bethel; a devoted niece, Kathryn Lessard and husband Hank and their children Dan and Marie, all of Palermo; her nephew Henry Deegan of Cape Elizabeth; her nieces, Sally Smith of Locke Mills and Joan Kimball of Albany; and many other nieces, nephews, and all of their families.
    She was predeceased by her husband, Feb. 19, 1975; and her only son, Alan Lee, Feb. 9, 1974; her parents; and her step father, Lester Rankin.
