    Earl W. "Bucky" Spinney, 74, of Clark Road died Wednesday at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine after a brief illness.
    He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, a son of Forrest E. and Florence Chandler Spinney. After attending schools in both Portsmouth and Eliot, Mr. Spinney moved to Alfred where he spent the remainder of his life. He was employed with various dairies in New Hampshire and Maine, including Badger Farms Creameries in Portsmouth, Emery's Dairy at Kittery Point, Chabot's Dairy in Somersworth, New Hampshire, and Clover Leaf Farms in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He also worked at the former Nasson College in Springvale and Cohen Egg Farm in Dayton. Mr. Spinney was a member of the Alfred Congregational Church, where he was a former deacon and president of the Men's Club. He was also a member and past president of the Parent's Club of the Alfred Elementary School. Mr. Spinney's wife, Elizabeth Sperry Spinney, died in May of 1999; he also was predeceased by three brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Currier of Raymond, New Hampshire, and Sybil Howe of Kennebunk; two sisters; Charlotte Mortgridge of Eliot and Mae Relea of Florida and four grandchildren.
    Visiting hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main St. in Springvale. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Alfred Congregational Church, with the Rev. Katherine Fiske officiating. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
