Mary was born on November 30th, 1864 in Clinton, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1  She had five brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Herbert, Eugene, Clarence, Charles, Jesse, Susan, Jennie and Carleton.  She was adopted by Albert Sawyer Carleton & Maria Blain Newman.  She died at the age of 62 on May 1st, 1927 in Utica, Oneida County, New York.1
