    Caroline S. Spinney
    Eliot, Maine - Caroline S. Spinney, 92, of Maine Street, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at York Hospital. Born in Kittery of Dec. 9, 1908, she was a daughter of Edwin and Ethel (Staples) Blaisdell. She attended Kittery schools for a time before moving to Eliot and attending schools there. She graduated from Eliot High School, and then attended Portsmouth Normal School, where she receivecd her teachers training.
    She and her husband for more than 71 years, Reginald I. Spinney Sr., operated the Reginald I. Spinney Construction Co. in Eliot. She maintained the office aspect of the business, ensuring the books and other necessary paperwork were always in order.
    She attended and was active in the South Eliot United Methodist Church, enjoying close friendships with many of the parishoners in the Ladies Circle and other groups within the church.
    She was a member of the Ladies Forum in Eliot. She enjoyed playing the violin, sewing and cooking, and was accomplished in all of them.
    In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Reginald I. Spinney, Jr. and his wife Dorothy Sutton Spinney of Groton, Conn., and Brian Spinney and his wife Norma Jean Spinney of Eliot; grandchildren, Carolyn Simmonds, Kathryn Sullivan, Susan Drew, Elaine Devirgilio, Park S. Spinney, Donna L. Tice, Michael Spinney and Kevin N. Spinney; 10 great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law Irene Spinney.
    She was predeceased by her son, Stephen M. Spinney, and her sister, Gertrude Blaisdell.
