Adam was born in 1853.  Adam's father is John Fifer and his mother is Hester Ann Barrick.  His paternal grandparents were Abraham Fifer and Lydia Fry; his maternal grandparents are Samuel Barrick and Eunice Painter. He had four brothers and five sisters, named George, Samual, Abraham, John, Sarah, Eunice, Martha, Margaret and Matilda.  He is the sixth oldest of the ten children.
