Rosalina was born about 1841 in San Germán, Puerto Rico.1   Rosalina's father was Sebastián Rodríguez de Astudillo-Ramírez del Postigo and her mother was María del Carmen Ponce de León-Martínez.  Her paternal grandparents were Francisco José Rodríguez de Astudillo and María del Socorro Ramírez del Postigo-Ortiz de la Peña; her maternal grandparents were José Antonio Ponce de León-Del Toro y Quiñones and María Vicenta Martínez-Mariño.  She had two brothers and two sisters, named Nicolás, Francisco, Dolores and Socorro.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
