Matilda was born in 1242 in Warwickshire, England.  Matilda's father was Sir John de la Warre and her mother was Olympia de Folkton.  Her paternal grandparents were John de la Warre and Emma; her maternal grandparents were Sir Hugh de Folkton and Margaret.  She was an only child.
