John was born in 1200 in England.  John's father was William Fitzalan and his mother was Isabel de Say.  His paternal grandparents were William Fitzalan and Fitzhaimond; his maternal grandfather was Ingram de Say.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 40 in 1240.
