Mari was born in 1856.  Mari's father was Evert Parts and her mother was Katre Parts (Saarva).  Her paternal grandparents were Jaan Parts and Liis Parts (Kõrge). She had five brothers and a sister, named Kristjan, Mihkel, Juhan, Peeter, Kaarel and Leenu.  She was the oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Jaan.  She died at the age of 1 in 1857.
