Toomas' father is Jaan and his mother was Mai. His paternal grandfather is Henno and his paternal grandmother was Liis; his maternal grandfather was Peeter and his maternal grandmother is Madli. He has a brother named Hans. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Villem, Evert, Peeter, Eva and Mari.
