Els' father was Märt and her mother is Liis. Her paternal grandparents were Jüri and Eva; her maternal grandfather was Jüri and her maternal grandmother is Epp. She had a brother and three sisters, named Juhan, Eva, Ann and Leenu. She has a half-brother and a half-sister, named Jaan and Mai.
