Erzsébet's father was Mátyás Ujváry and her mother was Irma Kováts.  Her paternal grandparents were Magdolna Ujváry and Antal Balanik. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Sándor, Imre, Irma, Ágnes, Izabella and Ilka.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
