Imre's father was György Asbóth and his mother was Erzsébet Balázs.  His paternal grandparents were György Asbóth and Anna Milos. He had three sisters named Erzsébet, Erzsébet and Éva.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Erzsébet, Ferenc, János, Imre, Katalin, Rozália and Terézia.
