Jan was born on February 26th, 1876.  Jan's father was Jan Fur and his mother was Susanna Szeveranka.  His paternal grandfather was Joseph Fur and his paternal grandmother is Catherine Kapsak. He had five brothers and four sisters, named George, Joseph, Jan, Ivan, Mathew, Maria, Christina, Anna and Christina.  He was the third youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 1 on January 6th, 1878.
