Thomas was born in 1761 in Eckington, Derbyshire, UK.  Thomas' father is Thomas STATON and his mother was Hannah CHADBOURNE.  His paternal grandparents were Ralph STATON and Etheldra DORE. He had three brothers and three sisters, named George, Ralph, John, Mary, Hannah and Martha.  He is the sixth oldest of the seven children.
