Josefa Manuela's father was Dionisio Sanchez Ramirez de Arellano and her mother is Ines Maria De Vallenilla y Bocanegra. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Dionisio, Manuel, Diego, Felipe, Ines, Agustina, Juana Geronima and Ines Catalina.  She died on March 20th, 1801 in Cumana.
