Erasmo's father is Alejandro De Armas Madurera and his mother is Francisca Josefa Ortiz Guazz.  His paternal grandparents are General Calisto Vicente De Armas Cañas and Francisca Josefa Madurera. He had a brother and four sisters, named Pedro Elias, Blasina, Francisca Josefa, Vicenta and María de las Mercedes. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Celso, Atila, Pedro, Mercedes, Ataliva and Luisa.
