    The extract follows:
    97. WILLIAM6 S KIDMORE, the first of his name in Nova Scotia, was probably
    born in the 1760s at Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, presumably the
    son of Whitehead (no. 37) Skidmore. The name of his mother is uncertain.
    He went with father to Ne w Brunswick in 1783 and remained there (with his
    sisters Letitia Barker and M ary Putnam) when his father took the rest of
    the family back to Long Island.
    It must be pointed out that there is at the moment no proof of this
    attribut ion, although it does seem to be extremely likely.
    William Skidmore had remove d by 14 July 1788 (the date of his marriage)
    to Parrsboro, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. His wife Isabel Mills may
    have been a kinswoman from Long Islan d; she was born in 1769 and was
    buried at St. George's, Parrsboro, on 3 March 1846 aged 77. The names of
    her parents and their abode (presumably not Parrs boro) remains to be
    found. He died at Parrsboro and was buried at St. George' s on 19 November
    1843 "aged about 90 years."
    Profiting by his father's sad e xperience he elected not to try for a
    grant of public lands in New Brunswick but went to Nova Scotia where he
    eventually purchased land. Parrsboro was alm ost exclusively populated by
    Loyalists. Much of the land there had been appor tioned out earlier to
    officers who had fought on the losing side in the Ameri can Revolution.
    His removal to Nova Scotia was fortuitous for province prospe red in the
    next decade. Sir John Wentworth, the governor, and the assembly pu lled
    Nova Scotia out of stagnation and had paid off the public debt by 1797.
    Wartime trade and privateering occasioned a general return to prosperity.
    He was, like the rest of his presumptive family on Long Island, a strong
    Church of England man. He and his wife were charter members of St.
    George's Anglica n Church at Parrsboro when it was confederated on 10
    August 1794. Reverend Th omas Shreve was the first Rector. In Mr. Shreve's
    first report to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel he reports
    that a church building had begu n at Parrsboro using £200 allotted to it

On 24 December 1800 James Ratchford of Parrsboro sold to William Skidmore, blacksmith, an acre of land and the buildings near Partridge Island in the village of Parrsboro for £10 which William Skidmore sold at a small profit on 1 August 1805 to John and William Crane. [Ratchford had earlier acquired 1000 acres at Parrsboro for which he had paid £550.]
    
    He is last noticed in the land records in 1831 when he gave a deed to his son William Skidmore, Junior.[Copley.FTW]

On 24 December 1800 James Ratchford of Parrsboro sold to William Skidmore, blacksmith, an acre of land and the buildings near Partridge Island in the village of Parrsboro for £10 which William Skidmore sold at a small profit on 1 August 1805 to John and William Crane. [Ratchford had earlier acquired 1000 acres at Parrsboro for which he had paid £550.]
    
    He is last noticed in the land records in 1831 when he gave a deed to his son William Skidmore, Junior.[Copley.FTW]

    97. WILLIAM6 S KIDMORE, the first of his name in Nova Scotia, was probably
    born in the 1760s at Jamaica, Queens County, Long Island, presumably the
    son of Whitehead (no. 37) Skidmore. The name of his mother is uncertain.
    He went with father to Ne w Brunswick in 1783 and remained there (with his
    sisters Letitia Barker and M ary Putnam) when his father took the rest of
    the family back to Long Island.
    It must be pointed out that there is at the moment no proof of this
    attribut ion, although it does seem to be extremely likely.
    William Skidmore had remove d by 14 July 1788 (the date of his marriage)
    to Parrsboro, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. His wife Isabel Mills may
    have been a kinswoman from Long Islan d; she was born in 1769 and was
    buried at St. George's, Parrsboro, on 3 March 1846 aged 77. The names of
    her parents and their abode (presumably not Parrs boro) remains to be
    found. He died at Parrsboro and was buried at St. George' s on 19 November
    1843 "aged about 90 years."
    Profiting by his father's sad e xperience he elected not to try for a
    grant of public lands in New Brunswick but went to Nova Scotia where he
    eventually purchased land. Parrsboro was alm ost exclusively populated by
    Loyalists. Much of the land there had been appor tioned out earlier to
    officers who had fought on the losing side in the Ameri can Revolution.
    His removal to Nova Scotia was fortuitous for province prospe red in the
    next decade. Sir John Wentworth, the governor, and the assembly pu lled
    Nova Scotia out of stagnation and had paid off the public debt by 1797.
    Wartime trade and privateering occasioned a general return to prosperity.
    He was, like the rest of his presumptive family on Long Island, a strong
    Church of England man. He and his wife were charter members of St.
    George's Anglica n Church at Parrsboro when it was confederated on 10
    August 1794. Reverend Th omas Shreve was the first Rector. In Mr. Shreve's
    first report to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel he reports
    that a church building had begu n at Parrsboro using £200 allotted to it
