Solomon Dow

Solomon was born in 1802 in Canterbury, York, New Brunswick, Canada.¹ Solomon's father was Jesse Dow and his mother was Mary Tidley. His paternal grandparents were Enoch Dow and Ruth Morton; his maternal grandparents were Sylvanus Tidd Teed and Mary Nye. He had six brothers and seven sisters, named Jacob, Samuel, Aaron, Moses, Ephraim, Jesse, Betsey, Rhoda, Ruth, Olive, Esther, Lydia and Mary Lucretia. He was the oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 93 in 1895 in Canterbury, York, New Brunswick, Canada.¹

  Solomon, with his brother Jacob, had river front farms, bu t undertaking some unusually large lumbering operations, be came financially overextended and lost their farms.
