    BIO:William Dennis was a resident of Scituate, MA as early as 1642.
    Little is known about him.  He may have been a shoemaker, or the
    references to William Dennis, shoemaker, may be to his son, who
    returned to England about 1640.  William Dennis was the father
    of Judith Dennis, who married Lawrence Litchfield.

    [The Will of William Dennis]
    
    The will of William Dennis of Scituate, was dated 16 February 1649, and probated 5 March 1656 . Bequests were as follows:
    "...unto Remember Leichfield Dependence Leichfield and Experience Leichfield my blacke Cow wh ich is now in the hands of James Cudworth equally to them to bee divided and to be kept for t heire use with halfe the profitt of the said Cow untill they the said Remember Leichfield Dep endence Leichfield and Experience Leichfield shall come to age or bee married and if either o f them Die in the meantime then the cow and the encrease of her shall redound unto Survivers ; the rest and residue of my goods my Debts being payed and my body Decently buried I give an d bequeath unto my soninlaw William Peakes and my Daughter Judith his wife whom I make my sol e executor and executrix Intreating Mr. Timothy Hatherly James Cudworth and Thomas Pincsin t o see the Cow formerly mencioned with the Increase to bee ordered for the best advantage of t he Children; and giveing them power together with my soninlaw William Peakes soe to Doe;
    The will was signed by a mark. The witnesses were Mr. Timothy Hatherly and James Cudworth."
