Robert Bruce

Robert was born in June 1243 in Annandale, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.¹ Robert's father was Robert "the Competitor" Bruce and his mother was Isobel de Clare. He had two sisters named Constance and Isabella. He was the oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 60 on March 14th, 1304 in Battle Of Dunbar In Palestine. He was buried after April 4th, 1304 in Holme, Cultram, Cumberland, England.¹¹

  The Anglo-Norman family of Bruce, which had come to Scotland in the ear ly 12th century, was related by marriage to the Scottish royal family, a nd hence the sixth Robert de Bruce (died 1295), grandfather of the futu re king (Robert I de Bruce), claimed the throne when it was left vaca nt in 1290.
