Frank was born in June 1873 in Bingley, Yorkshire, England.1   Frank's father was Benjamin Birtwhistle and his mother was Selina Baker.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Albert, Clara, Maria and Selina.  He was the oldest of the six children.
