George was born on January 28th, 1876.  George's father was Robert Mathieson and his mother was Jane Houston.  His paternal grandfather was John Mathieson and his paternal grandmother is Margaret  Gardner; his maternal grandparents are Oliver Houston and Jane Murray. He had a brother named James.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 47 on February 24th, 1923.
