Magdalena's father was Leoncio Yuvienco and her mother was Romana Aquino. Her paternal grandparents were Intsik Simon Yuvienco and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents are Mariano Aquino and Bartola Mercado. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Emiterio, Esteban, Baltazar, Marcos, Eugenio, Pacita and Amparo. She was the second oldest of the eight children.
