Margareta was born in 1672.  Margareta's father was Giles Higson and her mother was Anna Farneworth.  Her paternal grandfather was George Higson and her paternal grandmother is <Unknown>. She had eight brothers and six sisters, named George, Jacob, Richard, Peter, Giles, Jacobi, Richard, John, Priscilla, Martha, Dorothea, Margareta, Alice and Eleanor.  She was the second oldest of the fifteen children.
