Henry was born on February 8th, 1805 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   Henry's father was Frederick G Younkin and his mother was Catherine Patton (Younkin).  His paternal grandparents were Johann Heinrich “Henry” Junghen and Catharina Scherer (Junghen). He had three brothers and eight sisters, named John, Frederick, Moses, Christina, Betsy, Magdalena, Catharine, Sally, Nancy, Peggy and Polly. He had a half-brother named Frederick.  He died at the age of 75 on May 16th, 1880 in Wakefield, Clay County, Kansas, USA.  He was buried at the Timber Creek Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas, USA.1 1 

Henry's family

Henry and Mary were married in a religious & civil ceremony on December 21st, 1826 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1  They had eight sons and four daughters, named Moses, William, Alfred, Harrison, Silas, John, Ross, Jerry, Cassie, Rachel, Mary and Hilah.
