Katherine, known as Katie, was born on December 11th, 1900 in Streeter, Stutsman County, North Dakota, USA.1   Katie's father was Gottlieb Rivinius Jr and her mother was Katherine “Katie” Stradinger (Rivinius).  Her paternal grandparents were Gottlieb Rivinius Sr. and Katherine Herman (Rivinius); her maternal grandparents are Carl Stradinger and Katrena Nehr. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Jake, Theodore, Gottlieb, Albert, Arthur, Maggie, Lydia and Ida.  She was the oldest of the ten children.  She died about September 5th, 1991 in Elgin, Grant County, North Dakota, USA.1

Katie and Ben were married in a religious & civil ceremony on November 25th, 1923 at Ebenezer Church, Old Leipzig, Grant County, North Dakota, USA.1  They had two sons and four daughters, named Harold, Arthur, Dena, Melvin, Delores and Mildred.
