John was born in 1851 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   John's father was Samuel Harbaugh Miller and his mother was Mary Shumar (Miller).  His paternal grandparents were Jacob H Miller and Mary Harbaugh. He had three brothers and five sisters, named George, Joseph, James, Ellen, Margaret, Sadie, Mary and Lena.  He was the oldest of the nine known children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1918 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was buried in Sparks Cemetery, Saltlick Twp, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.1 1 

John's family

John and Eliza were married in a religious & civil ceremony.1   They had four sons and five daughters, named Frank, Thomas, Horatio, Smith, Carrie, Etta, Blanche, Brooks and Beulah.  The family line is yet to be completed.
