Michael Brennan (Carrowkeel, Fuerty) brother of Jack, he was arrested after the 1916 Uprising, and sent to Glasgow and Reading Prisons and finally to Frongoch "The Irish University." Brennan campaigned extensively for Harry Boland during the 1918 election. He turned his energies towards politics, becoming Chairman of the Roscommon County Council from 1921-1934. He also served as a Deputy in the Dail from 1927 to 1943, and became the founder and first secretary of the G.A.A. Provincial Council. In later years, when he was asked by his nephew if he had any regrets about his own actions ot those of his brother during the Wars, he firmly replied, "I do not." Died in the 1960s, and buried in Athleague Cemetary.
