Eszter was born on November 5th, 1881 in Aranyos and her christening took place there on November 10th, 1881 conducted by minister Nyilas Alajos.¹   Her godfather was Valkó Érsok János and her godmother was Székely Zsuzsánna.

Eszter's father was Bálint Kis (Tóth) and her mother was Juliána Székely.  Her paternal grandparents were Kis (Tóth) and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Székely and <Unknown>. She had four brothers and three sisters, named János, Lajos, Barnabás, Bálint, Erzsébet, Júlianna and Ágnes.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
