  GenEU reports the following connection which is interesting because, except for the date of John's death which may have been mixed up with that of the 1st Lord Botetourt, it provides information that does not otherwise overlap with that 1st Lord. As mentioned under John de Botetourt, 1st Lord there are many web sites that suggest that that lord was a son of Edward Longshanks. TCP (Botetourt) simply reports that the parentage of that lord is unknown. If his parentage was indeed different AND there was another John who was also 'of Botetourte' at that time, as below, then they may have been mixed up.
