  Sir Thomas Gower of Stittenham, co. York, Bart. so created in June 1620, (son and heir of Thomas Gower, Esq. of the same place, by Mary his wife, daughter of Gabriel Fairfax of Steeton, in the same shire,) and dying in Oct. 1638, she was buried in St. Clement Danes Church, London, where an inscription remains to her memory. By Sir Thomas Gower (whose arms were, "Barry of eight argent and gules, a cross patonce sable,"
