Probably died in Yorkshire, near Monkhill, Pontefract, where he was living in 1861 and 1871. However, there are no matching deaths for Pontefract for William of the correct age (within 10 years).
General Notes
Old William was a contractor for the railways, so travelled the country. We can trace where he was from the birthplace and christening records of their children: Portsea, Hampshire in 1821; Havant, Hampshire in 1823-25; Beverley, Yorkshire in 1827-32; Downham, Norfolk in 1836; Welton, Northampton in 1838; Royston, Yorkshire in 1839; Epping, Essex in 1842. He then appears to have returned to Yorkshire. Prudence married Thomas Kirkness in Pontefract in 1847 which is about 8 miles from Cowick where William was from. He was retired by 1861 and 1871 and predumed dead by 1881.
