Solomon placed a notice in the Bury Times on 24 Oct 1863 reading: "NOTICE - I, SOLOMON MATHER, of 68 Victoria Street, Elton, Bury will not be responsible for any debt or debts which my wife, JANE MATHER, may contract after this date - October 23rd 1863". Oh dear! Perhaps Jane was a shopaholic"
