Edward was living with Nathan and Catherine from Adlington, aged 4 in 1841, but not their son. He was probably the illegitimate son of their daughter Mary Mather (before she married William Priestly Davies)
In 1851, Edward was the grandson of Nathan and Catherine, aged 11 and still at Adlington.
24 May 1866, Nathan Mather (24), Collier, son of William Mather a labourer, married Jane Norris (23) of Adlington, daughter of Hugh Norris a shoe maker (by licence, not indexed on Lanc-BMD).
In 1881, he was aged 41, born Adlington, married to Jane (37, b. Charnock Richard)
In 1891, Edward and Jane (51 & 47) were at 7 Anderson Street, Adlington with Mary (24), Alice (23), Hugh (21), Betsy (19), Ellen (17), Charles (12) and Rose E (9).
