- 31 July 1865, John Cunningham (30) son of Martin a Shoemaker married Bridget Martin (30) daughter of John Martin a farmer at Manchester Cathedral (i.e. after Elizabeth Maus and Henry were born). Both were living at Granby Row, Central Manchester.
  
  In 1871 John (35) a shoemaker, and widower is with children Elizabeth (13), Henry (11), William Patrick (4) and sister in law Ann Martin, housekeeper.
  
  In 1881, John, a shoemaker (widow) from Ireland, was living with John H Dittmer and his daughter Elizabeth.

- From July 1865 John's occupation was Shoe Clicker in manufacturing in Manchester.
  From before 1878 to after 1881 his occupation was Shoemaker in manufacturing in Liverpool.
