General Notes
The John from Middleton who was a shopkeeper in 1841 and 1851 was born about 1775 is another. Our John must have been born about 1771 (or earlier) as he married Alice Lomax in 1790. The other John Booth (with Alice), shopkeeper and grocer died in Middleton in 1857, aged 81.
John was a Whister (bleacher or whitener) when he married Alice Lomax. His son Peter was also a Bleacher.
After they were married, John and Alice lived at Breightmet for 3 or 4 years, and had Josiah and Elizabeth baptised at Christ Church, Ainsworth. Later baptisms were at St. Peter's, Bolton and they lived at Little Bolton.
Between 1947 and 1951 (about 150 years after their birth), John and Alice became Mormons and had their children John and later Baptised and Endowed as members of the Church of LDS (see attached). How can this be?
