Allen “Sonny” Cooper, 66, St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at a local health-care facility.
Mr. Cooper was born May 5, 1939, in St. Joseph, where he was a lifelong resident.
In 1957, he graduated from Central High School.
On May 5, 1962, he married Marsha Louise Esely. She preceded him in death in January, 1984.
Sonny owned and operated Cooper Moving, which he was associated with his entire life. He also had worked as a wrecker operator for Hines Service.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, Arville Edward and Etta Johannah Cooper; two sisters, Eva Jane Wilkinson and Alma Brewer; and aunt and uncle, Alfred and Rena Schmidt.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was famous for his flower garden.
Sonny was always the favorite uncle. His pride and joy and best friend was his son, Todd.
Survivors: son, Todd Cooper, and wife, Clover; sister, Peggy Clark, and husband, Gerald; Gary and Michelle Clark; Carolynn and Mike Sollars; Jacob, Kelsey, Kimber and Bethanee; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service: 10 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
