Miss Julia Beeler and David McFarlin, both of Maryville, Missouri, were
united in marriage at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset Sunday, May
29th, at two-thirty in the afternoon. Father Gene Cunningham of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church and Rev. Paul Bousfield of the First United
Methodist Church officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beeler are parents of the bride and the bridegroom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles McFarlin, all of Winterset.
Bouquets of yellow and white daisies and white gladioli were used on the
main altar, with yellow daisies used on the side altars.
Troy Beeler, brother of the bride, and Mike Kordick were taper lighters.
Mrs. Meredith Easter was organist and served as accompanist for Bill
Nolen, cousin of the bride, who sang "Sunrise, Sunset," "Evergreen," "Lord's
Prayer," "Ava Marie" and "Wedding Song."
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory sata peau gown
with semi-cathedral train. The Czarina bodice and collar were frosted by
lace scalloping highlighted with pearls. The same trimming was used on the
modified shepherders sleeves at the elbows and the edge of the cuffs with
scalloped lace edging used on the full circular hemline of the skirt and on
the train. Her fingertip length veil of nylon illusion was trimmed in lace
and she carried a bouquet of yellow roses, yellow and white daisies and
gardenias.
Teresa Beeler, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore an empire
styled floor length gown of yellow crepe trimmed in yellow lace with a cape
of yellow daisy chiffon. She carried a prayer book with streamers of yellow
and white daisies and wore a headband of daisies in her hair.
Robert Kordick of Des Moines was best man and ushers were Tom Beeler of
Winterset, brother of the bride, and Jim Brown of Madrid, brother in law of
the groom.
Mrs. Beeler chose for her daughter's wedding a floor length deep coral
gown. Mrs. McFarlin was attired in an apricot floor length gown. Both
mothers wore shoulder corsages of white gardenias.
Mrs. Tom Beeler, sister in law of the bride, registered the guests and the
gifts were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Beeler of Marengo, Iowa, brother
and sister in law of the bride.
A reception was held in the Parish Hall following the ceremony. Serving
the cake and punch were Mrs. Marvin Wilson of Hays, Kansas, and Barb Beeler
of Gaston, Oregon, sisters of the bride, and Linda Read of Ankeny and Mrs.
Jim Brown of Madrid, sisters of the groom.
Both young people are graduates of the Winterset High School. Mrs.
McFarlin received a diploma in Child Development from Des Moines Area
Community College and is now associated with the Hitching Post Restaurant in
Maryville, Missouri. Mr. McFarlin received an Association of Arts degree
from Southwestern Community College in Creston and will start his senior
year at Northwest Missouri State University, majoring in accounting. He is
employed by Gibson Discount Center in Maryville.
Following a short wedding trip they are now at home at 311 W. 7th,
Maryville, Missouri.
