Arthur E. Scheele, 81, of Albany, died Sunday, Feb. 28 at his daughter' s home in Lebanon. Funeral services were held Friday, March 5 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Ch urch in Lebanon, with Pastor Edwin Rumerfield officiating. Burial follo wed at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery. He was born Nov. 25, 1917 in Chester, Neb., the son of Ben and Sadie (T rauernicht) Scheele. He was raised in Nebraska and married Ruth Yost on A pril 30, 1938 in Grand Island, Neb. The couple moved to Lebanon in 1954 , and had lived in the Lebanon-area until moving to Albany 25 years ago . Scheele served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had worked in the lumbe r industry all of his life, and had worked locally for the Santiam Lumb er Co. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the American Legio n Santiam Post No. 51 in Lebanon. He was an avid fisherman, who also en joyed hunting, reading and spending time with his family and grandchild ren. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Scheele of Lebanon; a son and his wife , Ben and Bernice Scheele of Albany; two daughters and their husbands, T rudy and Arnold Kroll of Lebanon and Gina and George Lesley of Costa Me sa, Calif.; three brothers, John of Tucson, Arizona, Leonard of Portlan d and Don of Lebanon; a sister, Eva Jane Wiegert of Omaha, Neb.; eight g randchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren . He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
