According to the notes of his wife, Mable FISCHER, notes typed
for the Life Underwriters Association news publication in
April, 1963 (before Ralph became assistant Vice-President of
Empire Life Insurance Company), Ralph Whitelaw FISCHER was born
in Omaha Nebraska and reared in St. Louis. He attended public
schools and the University of Missouri, with some post-graduate
work at Carnegie Tech.
He made his first life insurance contract while a student at
University of Missouri and has been in personal production,
managerial, and organizational work ever since. Most recently
he has worked as a supervisor for Northwestern Mutual Life for
18 years since coming to Los Angeles.
He became a CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) in 1930. He was
President of the St. Louis and Kansas City CLU chapters and
Director of the Life Underwriters' Association in St. Louis and
Kansas City.
1957-1958, he was President of the Los Angeles Life
Underwriters' Association and later Vice President fo the State
Association. He is also past President of the Supervisors'
Association. As of 1963, he was Chariman of the Life Insurance
Committe of the Chamber of Commerce. on census, respondent said that family owned the home worth
about $13,000
He died at the age of 74 on February 11th, 1972 in
Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.
