Gertrude Jurgens
Gertrude "Trudy" Jurgens, nee Frerichs, of Fort Collins passed away Nov. 2, 2006, in Fort Collins. Trudy was born March 6, 1919, to Gerhard and Gretje Meints Frerichs in Filley, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Beatrice, Neb. She married Dick Jurgens of Pickrell, Neb. on Oct. 6, 1936. Together they farmed in Adams and Beatrice, Neb., where she taught Sunday School and was a 4-H leader.
In January 1956 they moved to Fort Collins. She was a current member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church where she was active in the Quilting Guild and the Altar Guild. She was employed by the Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village for many years and continued with volunteer service.
Trudy is survived by her children, Dorothy Simiele (Joseph) of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and Alice Buderus (Robert) of La Salle; grandchildren Eugene Simiele, Jana Frustaci, and Marla Reimers all of New York, Richard and Craig Jurgens of Fort Collins, Andrew Buderus of Milliken, and Nicholas Buderus of Platteville; great-grandchild-ren Matthew and Kyle Simiele, Joseph, Vittoria, and Katherine Frustaci, Tyler and Cody Reimers, all of New York, and Allison and Katelyn Buderus of Milliken; sisters, Mildred Ewald (Richard) of Greeley, and Irene Folkerts (Edwin) of Beatrice, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 1967; son, Virgil Jurgens in 2003; daughter-in-law, Pat (Collard) Jurgens; grandson, Alexander Buderus in 1995; both parents; stepfather, Gerd Stevens; brothers, Lammert Frerichs and Ehme Stevens; and sisters, Marie Ideus, Abbie DeBuhr, and Tena Busboom.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village or to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. Highway 287, Fort Collins, Colo. 80525.
