- On Friday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m., Darlene Louise Jacobi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Jacobi, was united in marriage to Calvin James Hilligas, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Hilligas, Sr., of Chelsea. Rev. Paul Heath performed the single ring ceremony at Christ Methodist church.
The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a light blue suit with pink accessories. She carried a white Bible. Her corsage was of pink carnations. Maid of honor, Susan Shellenberger, wore a light grey suit with navy blue accessories and a pink carnation corsage. The bridegroom wore a marine blue suit and his best man, Larry Kalinay, wore a light grey suit. Nathan Beck and Richard Bloome were ushers.
A reception for members of the immediate family was held at the home of the bride's parents. A three-tier wedding cake with a miniature bride and groom centered the bridal table.
Mrs. Hilligas was born and educated at Belle Plaine and has been working at the Maidrite cafe. Mr. Hilligas was born at Riceville, Kans., and attended Chelsea high school.
He served three and one-half years in the navy aboard the aircraft carriers U.S.S. Antietam, U.S.S. Shangri-La and U.S.S. Yorktown.
