Carl was born on March 3rd, 1924 in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri.²   He died at the age of 85 on November 1st, 2009 in Chesterfield, St. Louis County, Missouri.  The funeral took place on November 6th, 2009 at Webste Groves Presbyterian Church, Webster Groves, St. Louis County, Missouri.^2 2

    He attended Webster Groves High School in St. Louis County, graduating in June 1941. He then entered Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and was initiated into the Kappa Alpha Order (Alpha Eta Chapter) in 1942.
    
    Carl was drafted into the Army in February, 1943. He left college to train as an Aviation Cadet and ultimately received his wings as a pilot in September 1944. He proudly served the United States as a Second Lieutenant and B-17 co-pilot stationed in England during World War II.
    
    After the War, Carl returned to Westminster College and graduated in January 1947. He carried the United States Flag in the Honor Guard that led the procession for Winston Churchill in March 1946 when the Prime Minister delivered his famous Iron Curtain Address at the college.
    
    Carl then attended Law School at St. Louis University, accepting a law degree in June 1950. He entered the field of municipal finance law with his father's firm Charles and Trauernicht.
    
    On September 7, 1949 Carl married Margaret Penn Wallace, also from St. Louis. They have three daughters - Margaret Christina (Donald Piktialis) Trauernicht of Princeton, Massachusetts, Catharine Wallace (Dun Scott) Trauernicht of Potomac, Maryland, and Cynthia Penn Trauernicht of Kirkwood, Missouri. They have three grandchildren - Donald S. (Felicia) Abbey II, Allison Scott, and Penn Scott. They also have two great grandchildren - Tori and Ciati. Carl and
    Margaret celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
    
    Carl spent over half a century supporting Westminster College, and at one time served as President of the Alumni Association. He was also devoted to the Kappa Alpha Order and received their Knight Commander's Accolade in November 2008. Combining his Presbyterian faith with Theosophy, Carl pursued a disciplined exploration of life's meaning. He was always eager to share perspectives with others.
    
    Mr. Trauernicht passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Brooking Park Skilled Nursing Center in Chesterfield. He will best be remembered for his jovial personality, his loyalty to friends and family, kind spirit, and love of country.
    
    Services: Memorial Service, 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 6, 2009, Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, 45 W. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, followed by a reception at Algonquin Golf Club, 340 N. Berry Rd., Glendale. Contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospital, 232 South Woods Mill Rd., Chesterfield, Missouri 63017, Open Door Animal Sanctuary, P. O.
