Luise was born in Lötzen.  Luise's father is Michael Smollich and her mother is ? Hartwig.  Her paternal grandparents were Johann Smolich and Lowisa Czerlinski.  She is the fifth of six children.  She had two brothers and two sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Johann, Friedrich, Anna, Henriette and <Unknown>.
