  • Carole Judson 2013.1: "The story of Plumpton and why we resided at the 'Eugh' (spelt the old way) I always thought was because my parents felt we would be a lot safer living there whilst my Father was away at war rather than in Finchley, London.  I guess it was through your Father that we heard about the house being vacant. My Mother, brother Tony and myself moved there and were also joined by my Aunt Connie leaving my Uncle Ted in North Cheam in Surrey, although he did visit whenever he could.  Connie worked for the Ministry of Food in Lewes during the war whilst my Mother looked after Tony and myself.  My Mother's parents then came to live in the adjoining cottage and stayed for a number of years."
