Alexander's father was Robert Bruce and his mother was Margaret of_Carrick.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Bruce and Isobel.  He was the fifth of six children.  He had four brothers and a sister, named Robert_I, Edward, Thomas, Nigel and Isabel.  He died in 1307.
