When Thomas and Jane came to Ontario, Jane must have used the name Ellen. Ship records show her as Ellen, in fact, as they were leaving, she became sick and here are the Doctors reports: Ellen Tobin, aged about 50 a delicate constitution. Put on sick list, 10 May 1825, at Cove of Cork. Discharged cured, 11 May 1825.
Janes husband had a tree fall on his and died. Jane was with child at the time.
According to Canadian English law, the eldest son inherits 2/3's of the fathers estate. This left Jane with 1/3 and a large family to support. Some time after this, Jane married a Mr. Dawson.
Mr Dawson had died in Canada.
Jane lived with daughter Ellen for a while, then after Mr Dawsons death, her son Ned had established himself in New York State and Jane moved in with him until her death.
per Clare McHales notes.

From Jim Tobin
The Tobin and Clifford houses are on opposite sides of the road from Mitchelstown to Mallow, about seven miles from Mitchelstown. The Tobin house is on the north and is way back, roof barely visable from the road. The Clifford house is right by the road on the south. It is owned and rented out by John and Siobha'n Murphy who live next door.
Their address is "Cloughleafin Lodge", Cloughleafin, Mitchelstown, County Cork, Ireland
Their telephone number is 011-353-25-245898.
They are very nice people and November would be a quiet tourist season so the house may be available. I have printed out the descendant reports of Tom and Jane's four children I have been able to find anything on. My program won't export it to a file so I am sending it by snail mail. Good luck and a good time in Ireland!
