    Note: Although SP states that Alexander married a daughter of Alexander Stewart, the marriage to a daughter of Reginald Crawford better explains the dispensation required by his grandson, James Lindsay when he married Egidia Stewart (4th and 3rd). This marriage also explains the fact that Alexander was the first Lindsay (of this branch of the Lindsays) to hold Crawford.
