Margaret was born in 1893.  Margaret's father was Alexander Thomson and her mother was Jane McRae.  Her paternal grandparents were Walter Thomson and Jane Adamson; her maternal grandparents were Donald McRae and Janet Watson.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named Andrew, Walter, Alexander, Janet and Mary.  She was the fourth oldest of the six children.
